Zoat

Old news - Zoat

I have had this old zoat standing almost finished for some years now... I wasn't really happy with it, but today I finished it anyway. So here you are:

I remember spending a lot of time on this one, but in the end I wasn't sure the colourscheme was such a good idea after all. I still very much like the idea of an almost colourless creature with ruby-scales... But then again, plain green zoats are also great...
What do you think?

  1. Beautiful, Mikkel. Like the pale skin and those gems are beautifully done. Another awesome job :)

  3. Looks good! I always like a two color-tone skin for monsters with the lighter one in front. Can't go wrong. Gems looks great too. Thx/Hans

  4. A grey/mox rubis colourscheme is a good idea, that give a magical spirit to the zoat. Better that green reptilian colourscheme.

    Good job :)

  5. Glad you like it guys! And thanks for the feedback... sadly I don't have more zoats to paint in this or any other colourscheme. Zoats are extremely cool :)

  7. I had 24 at one point, but sold a few, and then used others to 'pay' for the remaining 14 to be pro painted (the excellent Paul Sanderson at Frothers) :D

Zoats are like Goblins...you just can't have enough LOL

  9. no, everyone is slightly different, grays, blues, greens, sand, browns.. but all very subtle - if I can get hold of a decent camera I'll post some up for you Mikkel

  10. Not the best photos in the world - and not based yet (I'm toying with different basing for different rules - this is a Warhammer free zone)

    1. wow... the last picture, the one where they are all lying there - gives a good sense of what they would look like marching to war :)

What games do you consider fielding them in?

  11. now THAT is a question!

I LOVE the Warhammer world and setting, but detest the rules with a passion. I want something with large unit elements - maybe Fantasy Impetus or similar - I own dozens of sets and not perfectly happy with any of them.

The other decision yet to be made is what to use with the Zoats - since I don't have any woodies or halflings. I'm thinking the World of Twilight stuff may mix in nicely to form a woodland army which is a bit different.

    1. Oh yes.. the World of Twillight stuff might mix well with zoats... although it could take away some of the uniqueness of the zoats?! I think they look best among man and manlike miniatures...
