Bloodbowl dwarves part... done!

The specialteam for the dwarves is ready for some action!

In the front row there is Grim, the starplayer slayer (I think), Zara, chainsawguy, a passed out fan (the leader reroll), Boomer the bomber and some special gun dwarf I don't know the rules for... In the back there is 4 more linemen, 2 slayers (redone with orange hair), 3 drunken fans - one of them is puking rivertroll vomit. And of course the deathroller and the stunned deathroller.

This is the end of the Chaotic dwarfteam... It has been great fun to paint all of them, and I'm quite happy with the way they turned out... hope the owner is too... And Tjub who did a really great job converting all of the miniatures.

All in all there's some 30 models in this team.

Now what?

I guess I'll paint some boardgame-miniatures... maybe some of the Zombicide heroes... or some of the miniatures for Blood Rage... or some miniature from another of the dozens of boardgames I have bought lately from Kickstarter...

I must admit I really can't help myself when it comes to kickstarter.... I'm backing way more than I'll ever need.... But if it comes with extra miniatures, I'm in.

Dwarves for the World Cup

Here's the first 15 members of the scratchbuilt dwarfteam! They are going to the world cup in Italy next week - I hope they do well!

There still remain some 13-14  models to the complete team... But I'm quite happy to have reached this point, even though I fear it will take a long time to complete the rest of the team. Still, there are some quite funny models left - the deathroller for example..and some drunken fans... and the hobgoblin starplayer of course.

If it was my team, I think I would have added more nondwarf miniatures.. but hey...some people just love dwarves! :)

...

Apart from bloodbowl miniatures I have had my hands on several new miniatures.

2 of the games I have supported on kickstarter has arrived!

'Blood Rage' - the McVey viking game and 'Dungeon Saga' from Mantic.

At first sight Blood Rage looks almost as good as I had hoped. The miniatures are way better than the sedition wars miniatures... And the game looks fun... though I have not played it yet...of course.

Dungeon Saga is harder to judge just by looking at it... I have no idea how the game play... but the miniatures are a little disappointing... though that was somehow expected... Mantic and their hard plastics... Still it might be good...I do love a good old dungeonraid! :)

Bloodbowling at Giant Fanatic 17

This weekend I attended Giant Fanatic 17... and played my yearly 6 matches of Bloodbowl... And these pictures tell the story prety much like it was:

Different matches, same situation... My skaven was simply swarming the serious injured and KO boxes!

1-2 vs undead 2-3 in casualties (I don't know how to beat undead with skavens!)
0-2 vs dwarves 0-5 in casalties (don't know how to beat dwarves either)
2-3 against skavens 1-5 in casualties  (failed to avoid a matchwinning 1-turn td in the last turn)
2-2 against woodelves 3-1 I believe in casualties (maybe should have won this)
0-2 against high elves ...can't recall the casualties (was supposed to meet another skaventeam, but the judge had to play this one as the skavenplayer didn't turn up... )
0-2 against dwarves 1-7 in casualties (still don't know how to beat dwarves with skavens)

I learned some valuable lesson:
  •  first of all... maybe practice is actually needed to win games after all....

  • And maybe playing the skavens as a bashingteam is a vulnerable strategy...at least when you aren't extremely lucky with the dice...
  • I need more luck!!

In the end I won best painted... and 'wooden spoon' for being such a miserable looser...

Next year I might just play another team...

And more dwarves..

I'm on a roll with these dwarves... Can't remember the last time I last had 2 blog-updates within days :)

3 more dwarves:

And with 7 dwarves down and only 21 to go, I'm nearing me the first groupshot!...

I'm still not sure about where to put names, numbers and colourcode... but I have some ideas... The base is probably the best place to put it...but maybe numbers could be painted on the white part of the hats? Maybe vertical? hmmm.. I'll have to put some more thoughts into it...

...

During the last year, where I haven't been painting, it seems like others have dropped painting as well? The forums where I use to lurk are becoming more and more deserted... What is happening with Frothers?!? And Oldhammer Forum is also slowing down... where is everybody?? Is there a new forum somnewhere I haven't been told about? please tell me! :(

More bb-chaos dwarves...

Still painting from time to time...

I have these 28 scratchbuilt blood bowl dwarves to do... And here's 3 more... 2 runners and an apothecary:

They seem a little rough... but in person they look better. As you can see I have tried to make their hats white and silver instead of the golden/silver I did on the first one... I think it's a little better this way!?

I'm still quite confident that they will look good as a team...  can't wait to have enough to make a decent goupshot...

There's more dwarves coming up... so I hope to see you again on these pages :)

Scratchbuilt Bloodbowl chaosdwarves coming up

                                                       (wip)

Ok then.. took me a long time to get here... 9 months or so since my last post. And I havent been painting at all :(

Things went wrong when Fantask closed down their gamestore. That used to be the place where I did all my painting... for some 14 years I have been painting there every friday more or less. But times are hard and they had to close last winter...Im not good at adjusting... I must admit that :(

I have done several things to kickstart my paintingcareer though... I have, of course, bought tons of miniatures... I have recently bought a whole new set of Windsor & Newton brushes and some weeks ago I accepted a commision job - 28 chaosdwarves for blood bowl. All of them scratchbuilt by a tallented guy at  Chaos Dwarf Online called Tjub.

An absolutely great team, full of character and humour. Great ideas... I really hope I can do them justice...

And all of them are supposed to be done this year... That's the plan...

The one on the picture is the first completed dwarf... at the moment we're discussing whether the silver on the hat should be white instead... I think that might be a good idea?

Apart from not painting, life is ok... children are alive and growing..job's ok most of the time and so on... I only wish I had more time to do hobbyrelated stuff...

GF 16

Back from Giant Fanatic 16

I have been to a real tournament, and I have actually played Blood Bowl!

Here's a snapshot from one of my six games during this weekends Blood Bowl tournament. Notice the cool field made by Sonny Bundgaard. In this match my tactics worked out perfectly: injure the oppponent and then go score a touchdown. I made 5 casulties against this proelf team... The match afterwards I managed 8 casulties and still lost 1-0... Had some real bad luck in between injuring slanns (.. ok I admit - I wasn't quite sure about how to play those slanns...and unfortunately they turned out to play quite good).

In the end I came up fourth with 3 wins, 1 tie and 2 defeats.. I did however make the most casulties (23) and won best painted team as well... (again, admitted - blood bowlers don't seem to spend as much time painting miniatures as they do drinking beer and talking footballtactics)

I played with this team - FC Tusindmus:

Saturday was fleamarket-day as well... and I ended up with this lot of miniatures:

Was it worth some 21£? I did try to haggle...

All in all it was great to see some action, some incredibly well painted armies at the warhammer-tournament, and I really want to paint some more miniatures soon :)

Kev Adams - blood bowl goblins

Long time since my last update. Time flies and I must admit I haven't been productive. I haven't even been following blogs and stuff...  Am I growing up, or what is happening??
But lately I have had fun painting some Kev Adams goblins - They have something special yet extremly simple to them. Maybe there is still hope for me.

But as much as I enjoyed painting them, I must say that I had a hard time taking photos of them.

I think I need to paint more Kevin Adams goblins... Some tome ago I saw an indiegogo campaign with rather nice Kevin Adams gobo warmachines and stuff... Looking forward to see those for sale irl :)
Until then I might just dig for gold in the mountain of lead... Lots of cool stuff there..probably some Kev Adams as well.

Next miniature on my to do list is a Tre Manor ogre from Reaper Bones...gotta paint at least some of them Bones... And Tre Manors sculpts are almost as cool as Kev Adams :)

The otherworld campaign has disappeared from Indiegogo... And I still haven't received a single miniature nor replies to any of my mails. I must say I'm quite disapointed with Richard from Otherworld :(

Hopefully the next update will be sooner than later.

wip norsemen

While I wait for some time off (from family and other duties) to paint the chaotic dwarf from Clam miniatures, I'll post you a wip-photo of the norsemen for a upcoming Blood Bowl team:

5 gw norsemen. None of them totally finished when this photo was taken.

I have tried giving them a cold frosty look - red noses (of course) and blue glazing on the skin... They tend to look a little bit messy... I'm not sure the time put into them pays off, but I hope to see a finished team of them on the field someday.

Back to the chaos dwarves now.... focus...

Goblinoids

So it is summer. Stormy and rainy.

Some time ago I talked about a norse Blood Bowl team coming up... Then Giant Fanatic was called off, leaving me somewhat unsure about my Blood Bowl career.

But here's a teaser for you. The Snowtroll:

I think it makes a fine snowtroll.

Something completely different is the assault on Kevin 'Goblin master' Adams. All sorts of people have scuplted goblins to be cast and sold to raise money for Kevin (google goblinaid). While I wait for the goblins to be released for sale, I have painted one of the Kevin Adams goblins from the mountain of lead:

A fairly simple paintjob, I like it nonetheless. The gobbo was meant to carry a shield, but I thought he looked better without... Though the shield was quite cool, it made him look rather ordinary...much like an gw nightgoblin.

Back with a trophy

BB-trophy

Recently things have gone better. I've returned to work, and I have started painting again. First thing painted in a long time is this BB-trophy sulpted on commision by Bob Olley (for the same bb-enthusiast, who commisioned the bb-mermaid) . It's 5 cm high and can be used as trophy, rerollcounter, turnmarker or whatever you feel like. The ball is oddly small... It has to be the arm of an ogre or something really big to make any sense. But when that is said, I think it looks really cool, and it has good heavy feel to it, being solid metal.

While I haven't been painting, I have however been trawling ebay for old school miniatures.... along with the rest of the world it seems?!? Prices have exploded... I have been outbid on every single thing I have laid eyes on. Maybe it's time to sell instead of buying?? Or maybe just digging the leadmountain for some already attained gold?

With no succes at buying at ebay, I felt I had to throw all my money after miniatures yet to be made... Having supported the Mcvey kickstarter and the Reaper bones kickstarter was apparently not enough. I just had to have those Otherworld adventureres as well... oh well... At some time there will be a considerable addon to the mountain of lead/plastic. Sedition Wars should be around in December as far as I remember... Otherworld starting in January(?) and Reaper bones in March... Oh boy oh boy...
- What crowdfunded miniatures have you invested in?

Blood Bowl af Giant Fanatic 15

Hi there... (I know I haven't been posting for a long time... real life has been horrible!)

I haven't been painting anything either...

But this weekend I went to play my annual games of Blood bowl at Giant Fanatic in Copenhagen. I used to participate in the Warhammer-tournament, but that was many years ago... Blood Bowl requires less commitment, fewer painted miniatures... and it's a great game. So there I was.

I fielded the same skaventeam as last year. I even chose the same extra skills as last year, and therefore I was quite certain that, even though I havent played in a year, I would do quite well. I really like the fast skavens. Movement 9 is a bless. But I do also very much  like to beat up the other team and therefore I went with skills like migthy blow and block.

First game was against undead. A nice swedish guy. Close game.  2-1 victory. I didn't make that many casualties...if any... but a victory it was nonetheless.

Next game was against a slann team... Eventhough I have painted one myself, I have never played with or against a slannteam before. The leapt everywhere and i was lucky to get a draw 1-1

From here things started to go wrong. Third game was against Mobos skavens. I understand he has some practice in playing them skavens... And even though I should have sent his little av7 rats right off the pitch and into the casualtybox as easy as...something very easy... it didn't happend. I lost the game 1-2 and was never close to victory :(

Last game saturday was agianst orc... forgot to take any pictures - I was to busy removing my rats from the field and lost 1-2 again without any chance of winning.

Sunday morning - everything looked brighter and I was going to play some woodelves I remember beating to smithereens last year. And for the first time part of my plan worked out well - I managed to injure 7 out of his 11 elves! He did however score against me (including a one turn touchdown... oh the horror!), and I was extremely lucky getting a draw: 3-3. A great match - the best I have played this year :)

Last game was against skavens... again. And again, I must say, my plan failed miserably. I got my ratogre injured very early in the game, and was quite lucky losing by a single touchdown: 3-4. Fun game nonetheless

In the end I won the award for best painted team (thank you very much!). But gamewise I was no good... Maybe next year will be different... Maybe I should field the orc team I painted some years ago and never played with... Or maby I should paint something new---perhaps a fourth skaventeam? :)

BB-Mermaid

Ok then... I'm still here and still painting... But real life has been up over my head :(

I have something special for you though. It's the give away miniature for the upcoming Eurobowl 2012 tournament of blood bowl. It's taking place in october this year. The miniature is sculpted by Bob Olley, and being a tournament on danish ground it had to be a mermaid (the little mermaid you know...)

Anyway, here it is...and I like it!

What do you think? - Could she be your favourite receiver?

Skavens and the adventurers starter set

OK then... I have some pictures for you! They aren't as good as I had hoped, but I'll show them anyway.

First, my latest 2.ed skaventeam:

The ratogre-model is the Clawed fiend from GW - it makes a quite nice ratogre I think.

And then there's the very old school adventurers starter set from back in the days (1984)

They came out like this:

Not all of the models turned out great... the gnome for example is pretty bad... And the colourschemes from the artwork don't do much good for any of the models really. Even so, I still feel there is something cool about this project - it was funny trying to follow the artwork, and doing so, I can of course blame the artist for all bad decisions :)

Blood Bowl at Giant Fanatic14

And so it came and went... This years Giant Fanatic...

Just got back from Giant Fanatic (gf14). I managed to get the painting of my new skaventeam done in time (saturday morning, 1 hour before kickoff). 18 Players participated, including some of the finest bb-players in Denmark as well as a girl from Rusia (a REAL girl...woman... I'm not kidding!).

I won 4 out of my 7 games, scored 12 touchdowns and made 19 casulties - the casulties gave me the honour of most butchering player (some norse guy didn't turn up for the last two games, and I beat him by one casulty)

I even got the chance to beat my own woodelf team to smithereens :)

Besides being the tournament, where I play my yearly games of blood bowl, GF is also a very impressive Warhammer event (some 150 players). I talked to Tue Kaas, a golden demon winner some years ago, and after having painted a little handful of miniatures a year, he surprised me with this stunning 40k army:

I presume he won best painted, but I didn't stay to find out. Anyway, it looked great!

I also had the pleasure to see 'Tulzifar' from Powerfist.dk in action - this is a 'dick-train' (?!) that was made for a music video with some danish band - very grotesque

Anyhow, I ended up fourth in the tounament (Mobo won again, this time with some cheesy woodelves... wonder if he ever dares to play some teams that doesn't play themselves, hehe)and I won best painted team as well, even though it was a close call this year (picures of the skaventeam will come when I have the time to take some). It was a great weekend with thousands and thousands of painted miniatures - Great!

bb elf kicker

Got som commisionjobs that have set my adventurers on stand by... For example this addition to the brown/orange woodelf team of 2. ed blood bowl elves:

Lovely old miniature - only thing that bothers me sculptwise is his left side of the face... a little twisted and odd... but it doesn't show that much, I think.

At the moment I'm working on some griffins for an empirearmy - with green bases! (I have actually never painted bases green before , but these have to fit an existing army)

Here's what I have been doing.

Long time, no update :( Sorry about that, but the real world kept bugging me. I would like to welcome all the newcomers to my blog. I'm so happy that you bother!

I have been painting in the meantime, though. Here's what I have been doing:

- The models for Wrath of Ashardalon. Nearly 50 plastic models for some more dungeoncrawling. speedpainted with Devlan mud and highlighted - to go with the Castle Ravnloft models shown earlier.

- 6 pretty nice plastic models for the boardgame Cluedo, no photos of them either, they have been shipped to customer (well actually they're on display at Fantask, Copenhagen, but they should be picked up anyday now)

- The first skavens for my new 2. ed skaven blood bowl team :)
This is the third 2.ed skaven team I paint... just love those rats (go Goodwin!)
As you can see, so far I have painted 3 linemen (one of them is the kicker model) and a gutterrunner. The colourscheme is orange/red and orange/yellow. (I realize that the ctachers loinclothes is somewhat less yellow than the rest... gotta do something about that) The plan is to paint them one at a time to give each of them full attention... Lets see if I can stick to that and actually finish the team... stay tuned! :)

3 socalled mites from Reapers Pathfinder. Nothing fancy... 2 hours of work and there you have them.I would love to field them against a party of adventureres... It's a shame that I don't do any roleplaying...

The complete 2. ed. elven blood bowl team

There you are. That should be it. Here is the complete 2. ed elf team. 17 models in total.

The treeman is hard to see in detail... He actually has a very nice face expression. It's a great model. I still don't know where he comes from - I remember having seen the model with a halfling team as well.

The linemen let the team down a bit, I think... As I had feared they look quite weak beside the blitzer and catcher models. Anyway - they are classic models and they belong to this team.

What now? Uhhhh I still have the urge to paint some more 2. ed blood bowl skavens, but then again you never know. Soon the Ravenloft boardgame follow-up will come out. Maybe I will speedpaint a set of dungeonraid plastic models.

BB-referee (human)

While I try to finish the 2. ed elven team... here's a little in between mini. One of the two bb-referees from gw... I have painted the other - a dwarf - as well... can't find it right now though...(You can see him on the slann team shot, I believe)

I'm working on the treeman for the elven team... he's quite a big guy :)

(Saw the rulebok for AE Bounty the other day... made me wanna paint some aliens... or maybe I should just stick to bb for some time... Uhhh so many minis and I'm so lazy...)

A new team-wip-photo

The first two linemen are done... and a second thrower. I still have to finish 4 more linemen (almost done) and the treeman. Can't wait to get my hands on that treeman. Customer showed me the model yesterday, and it was great. I haven't seen it before (and there I was, thinking I had seen it all). There was talk about altering the model with some greenstuff additions... I hope he doesn't alter it too much though :)

And I made a great bargain on ebay..hehe... buying another 15 2.ed skavens for my next bloodbowl skaven team... I wonder when I will actually have the time to paint them. Nonetheless it felt terrific to buy them :)

And a warm welcome to all the newcomers at this blog - I guess this bloodbowl updates have been quite popular. Don't worry, there will be more!
